Paris

Hi!

Paris – the city of LOVE, elegance, and unforgettable views. For us, it became the dream destination for our long-awaited honeymoon, which took place three years after our wedding. It turned out that this time only strengthened our love and allowed us to enjoy this special experience even more.

We arrived in Paris at the beginning of May. Although the weather was sunny, we couldn’t expect the warm sands associated with a tropical paradise. Nevertheless, Paris exuded a certain charm that was reflected both in its elegant architecture and in the demeanor of its residents.

In planning our stay in Paris, we had everything meticulously organized so that over the course of four days, we could visit all the places that intrigued us the most. After checking into our hotel, we headed to the Jardin des Tuileries to enjoy some delicious coffee. It was here that our Parisian adventure began.

The Tuileries Gardens are one of the most enchanting corners of the French capital, located in the heart of the city between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. Established in the 16th century by Catherine de Medici, they now stand as a beautiful example of a classical French garden. With its expansive walkways, sculptures, fountains, and neatly trimmed bushes, the gardens create a peaceful space perfect for relaxation. On a sunny day, like the one we experienced, the Tuileries Gardens come alive and become a meeting place for both locals and tourists who revel in the beauty of this historic spot.

All the landmarks on our itinerary were truly beautiful. As we strolled through the city streets, we stumbled upon small, cozy cafes where Parisians spent their time enjoying coffee, reading literary works, and indulging in delicious croissants. While Paris is often associated with croissants, this doesn’t quite capture the everyday life of its residents. For most Parisians, a typical morning involves grabbing a coffee and a baguette to go, followed by a hurried dash to work.

The streets of Paris have their own unique charm. Narrow, cobblestone alleys are filled with cafes, souvenir shops, and street performers. Walking through them, you can feel the city’s pulse and immerse yourself in its atmosphere.

Each district of Paris has its own distinct characteristics. Montmartre, with its artistic spirit and picturesque corners, delights with its atmospheric cafes and small galleries. Le Marais, brimming with elegant boutiques and charming squares, offers a blend of historic charm and modern style. Meanwhile, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, known for its literary bohemia and iconic cafes, exudes the atmosphere of old Paris. Each of these neighborhoods invites exploration, allowing you to dive into local culture and enjoy the delights that make Paris a city rich in life and history.

Evenings in Paris are incredibly beautiful, especially when small lights illuminate every corner and the Louvre exudes its majestic splendor. Strolling through the streets, you can feel the magical atmosphere of the City of Love.

The Eiffel Tower is one of Paris’s most impressive attractions. Its stunning structure offers not only a unique view of the city but also a magnificent panorama. I highly recommend purchasing a ticket to the top of the tower, which allows you to move between its different levels. It’s an incredible experience!

Built by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 World’s Fair, the Eiffel Tower was initially criticized by many contemporary artists and intellectuals. Today, however, it stands as one of the most recognizable symbols of Paris and architecture worldwide. Standing at 324 meters, it is not only a remarkable engineering feat but also a place offering unforgettable views of the entire French capital. On its three levels, you can admire expansive vistas, visit restaurants and shops, and gain unique perspectives on other Parisian landmarks.

At night, the tower, illuminated by thousands of lights, becomes even more spectacular, creating a romantic and unforgettable atmosphere.

Art lovers will find an endless array of masterpieces in the Louvre, including famous works by Rembrandt, Titian, Velázquez, and Van Gogh. You can immerse yourself in the world of classical painting, experiencing the unmatched beauty and talent of the artists who created these extraordinary pieces.

The Louvre is also renowned for its beautiful courtyard, which serves as a key landmark in Paris. Surrounded by monumental buildings, the courtyard exudes a vibrant atmosphere. In the evening, when the lighting highlights the architectural details, the place takes on a charming, almost fairy-tale quality.

Additionally, the Louvre’s impressive glass pyramid, designed by I. M. Pei, is a noteworthy blend of modernity and history. Although controversial at the time of its construction, the pyramid has become a modern symbol of the museum, creating a fascinating contrast with the classical facades of the surrounding buildings. During the day, the sunlight reflecting off its glass gives it an almost magical glow, while in the evening, the illuminated courtyard transforms into an incredible, radiant spectacle.

Notre-Dame, although still under renovation on the outside, continues to exude its historical beauty. It is one of Paris’s most iconic landmarks and definitely worth a visit.

The Notre-Dame Cathedral, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture, began construction in 1163 and was completed in 1345. Its monumental facade, rich with sculptures and stained glass, captivates anyone who sees it. The cathedral’s interior is adorned with magnificent stained glass windows, including the famous rose windows, which allow colorful light to filter through, creating a magical atmosphere. Notre-Dame has witnessed many significant events in French history, including the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte and the beatification of Joan of Arc.

Despite the damage caused by the 2019 fire, with parts of its interior and roof being destroyed, the restoration work is nearing completion, and the cathedral is slowly regaining its former glory. It’s worth noting that the surrounding square and gardens, even during the renovation, offer an excellent place for a stroll and contemplation, providing a unique view of one of Paris’s most important symbols.

The Luxembourg Gardens is a place where you can relax and unwind after exploring the city. This charming park offers picturesque pathways, colorful flowers, and delightful ponds. It’s an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a picnic.

Established in 1612 by Marie de Medici, the Luxembourg Gardens is one of Paris’s most beautiful parks. It features elegant avenues, splendid flowerbeds, and a pond with toy sailboats that children can rent and set afloat. In the park’s central area stands the majestic Luxembourg Palace, the seat of the French Senate, adding a touch of historical charm to the location. The park is perfect for relaxing amidst greenery, and its tranquil atmosphere is ideal for unwinding after a day of sightseeing.

Jardin d’Acclimatation is another unique spot in Paris that offers a variety of attractions. It features a lovely amusement park providing entertainment for the whole family, with numerous rides, carousels, and themed gardens. Additionally, the Jardin d’Acclimatation is home to the Fondation Louis Vuitton, which showcases remarkable contemporary art. The foundation’s building, designed by architect Frank Gehry, is a work of art in itself, characterized by innovative architecture and an impressive glass facade. This place combines fun and cultural experiences, offering visitors both entertainment and top-notch art.

Paris is full of major attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and Versailles. Other popular sites include the Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre with its Basilica of Sacré-Cœur and picturesque streets, and the famous Champs-Élysées.

Additionally, the Musée d’Orsay, housed in a former railway station, is worth a visit for its impressive collection of Impressionist artworks. For those interested in modern architecture and culture, the Centre Pompidou, with its unique structure and extensive cultural program, is also a fascinating destination. Paris is a city that blends history, art, and modernity, offering countless opportunities to explore and be enchanted by its many charms.

The Basilica of Sacré-Cœur, perched on the Montmartre hill, was built in the early 20th century and is one of Paris’s most recognizable landmarks. Its white marble facade and impressive domes stand out against the cityscape. The interior of the basilica is stunning, with monumental mosaics and a sense of tranquility that contrasts with the lively square surrounding it.
