Blackpool and Scafell Pike- A Weekend Full of Adventures

Hi!

Here is the continuation of the story about our journey through England, this time focusing on our time spent in Blackpool

After our wonderful hike in the mountains and exploring the charming city of Chester, we decided to conquer another peak – Scafell Pike, the highest point in England, rising to 978 meters. We prepared carefully for the entire weekend, packed our belongings, and headed to Blackpool.

Upon arrival and checking into a charming guesthouse, we were excited to explore the city. The initial impression was not impressive – the city seemed neglected, somewhat resembling another seaside town we visited earlier – Southend on Sea in Essex.

We spent half of Friday walking along the seafront, pier, and getting acquainted with the city’s attractions. Our plan included conquering the mountain on Saturday, but unfortunately, we forgot to pack the most important thing – hiking boots. So, we had to quickly change our plans and decided to spend Saturday actively in Blackpool.

We purchased a full-day ticket for attractions and started the day with a visit to SEA LIFE – a place I love due to its fascinating sea creatures and the tranquility it offers. It’s a perfect place to relax and enjoy observing a variety of marine creatures.

Next on the list were the Wax Figures at Madame Tussauds. I must admit, it was a completely different experience than in London, but equally fantastic. The memories from our visit to Madame Tussauds in Blackpool will definitely stay with us.

We then went to The Dungeons, where unfortunately photography wasn’t allowed. The atmosphere and special effects left a strong impression, especially on those who are not too brave in dark and confined spaces.

The most thrilling experience was at The Eiffel Tower, where a fantastic 4D cinema awaited us, complete with additional experiences like 3D effects, rain, a shaking floor, and sound effects. Everything was so well-crafted that it felt like I was there – phenomenal.

At the top, there is a glass floor that creates an amazing impression, and the view is truly breathtaking. Additionally, you can go out on two more floors.

We ended the day with something we didn’t expect to find there – a circus and an acrobatics show. Here too, no recordings or photos were allowed (though I managed to capture a tiny fragment). The positive impression came after leaving the hall, as the entire show was in a beautiful ballet hall. Truly, two hours of a beautiful and amazing show – it’s also extraordinary what a person can do and still be so precise, as there’s no room for error in certain situations. I just want to wholeheartedly recommend that if you’re in Blackpool, make sure to visit the circus at the end of the day; it will relax you and give you a real wow experience.

The next day, just as we had planned, we set out fully equipped and ready to conquer the highest peak in England – Scafell Pike. Our expedition promised to be an extraordinary challenge, as well as a perfect opportunity to experience the beauty and magic of the mountain world.

The road leading to the very top was not as gentle as we had hoped. Winding serpentine roads, steep ascents and descents made the journey a true test for our vehicle. However, with a 4×4 vehicle in our possession, we had the upper hand. This wasn’t the first time our robust machine had proven to be our savior in challenging conditions.

One of the difficulties we faced was that we had forgotten to bring specialized mountain boots. Therefore, during the hike, we had to be extremely cautious to avoid injuries. Right at the beginning of the trail, we experienced how demanding mountain climbing can be. The initial path was challenging but relatively mild, yet the higher we ascended, the steeper and more demanding it became. The temperature dropped as we climbed, and the wind became progressively piercing. However, the breathtaking views around us compensated for all inconveniences. The feeling of standing on the summit and gazing at the beautiful world stretching below you is indescribable.

Our challenging ascent took us three hours. It was a tough but satisfying experience, especially for a relatively low peak. It turns out that the choice of the right footwear is crucial for such hikes.

When we reached the summit, the sun greeted us with a wide smile in the sky. It was undeniably one of the most beautiful and rewarding experiences of our lives. At the top of Scafell Pike, we simply forgot about the hardships of the climb, as the views were truly worth it.Nevertheless, our expedition had its surprises. As we descended, the weather significantly worsened. Rain and mist accompanied us during the last meters of our journey, but we were genuinely grateful for having achieved our goal.

The journey to Scafell Pike was not only an incredible experience but also a reminder that life is full of challenges that need to be overcome. It was one of three mountains we plan to conquer, and now, with this first success, we look forward to more adventures.

The next stage of our mountain expedition will be reaching the highest peak in Scotland. It promises to be an extraordinary experience. Although we plan it for the next year, we are already starting to prepare and gather information about the conditions on-site. The awareness that snow might fall during the hike adds extra excitement and motivation to conquer this peak.

In conclusion, the expedition to Scafell Pike was an unforgettable experience. Confronting difficulties and unpredictable weather, we discovered the beauty of the mountain world and conquered the summit. This experience will undoubtedly stay with us forever and inspire us for further mountain conquests.

See you!
